How we work

how we work

At Brett-Lesage we don't leave things to chance. On the contrary, we believe that a strong process framework is fundamental to delivering effective design solutions.

Here's how we do it…

Step 1: define the challenge

  • We meet with you to discuss the brief and ask some (gentle) searching questions: What's your ultimate business goal? How is it measurable? Who's the audience? What's the message and tone? What are the parameters of time and cost?
  • We supply a contact report summarising the agreed brief
  • We provide a quotation with clear cost breakdown and print specification – including copywriting where required
  • We agree a detailed timeline
  • We request your approval to proceed with chargeable work.

Step 2: agree the approach

  • We present colour visuals of design concepts, usually as designs on boards or as dummy booklets. With a number of different approaches, we give you a clear sense of the options.
  • You choose your preferred approach, and give us any feedback.

Step 3: implement the design

  • We commission, buy or art-direct any photography or illustrations.
  • We lay out your approved copy to create a complete document complete with images in place, which we supply to you as a colour proof. This is as close to the final product in look and feel as is practical.
  • We take in any amendments to text or images and supply you with a revised proof.

Step 4: produce and deliver

  • We prepare final artwork for print, checking it against the printer's specifications.
  • We receive proofs from the printer, check them ourselves and send them to you for a final check before returning them.
  • When the items are printed we see that they're delivered to you, or that your multiple-drop or mailsort deliveries are carried out on time and to specification.

Step 5: check and evaluate the results

  • We finish our process by checking that you're happy with our product and service, noting any lessons for the future.
  • We recommend a way for you to evaluate the effectiveness of your project.
